Shaw Floors
Clarence Shaw and J.C. (Bud) Shaw bought Star Dye Company in 1946. In 1958, Bob Shaw became CEO of the company, which was then jointly owned by the two brothers. With $300,000 in sales, the company expanded dramatically and soon started finishing carpet as Star Finishing Company. By 1971, Shaw Floors had approximately $43 million in sales and 900 employees. In 1985, Shaw made its first appearance on the list of America's largest corporations--the Fortune 500--with more than $500 million in sales and close to 5,000 employees. Additional milestones for the company include: generating its own yarn supply with the 1972 purchase of its first yarn plant, creating its own trucking subsidiary, dramatically improving shipments nationwide, establishing regional distribution centers across the United States, decreasing the consumption of fuel, water, and electricity in the manufacturing process and finding innovative recycling solutions for manufacturing waste, and starting the rug division in 1993 and the hard surfaces division in 1998 with the launch of Shaw Ceramics.
Shaw Floors offers a complete plethora of products and brand lines. Philadelphia Carpets was established in 1946 and is Shaw's oldest and broadest flooring line. Not to mention, it is one of the most respected brands in the industry. Cabin Crafts is one of Shaw's most widely distributed carpet lines. Queen Carpets on the other hand offers a broad range of affordable, unique, innovative carpet styles, suitable for transforming any room in your home. Sutton has established itself as the industry's recognized quality and style leader in Berber and patterned loop carpets. American Home Fashions is a division of Shaw Industries, with separate manufacturing and marketing. Home Foundations, sold through home builders, includes products made just for builders. Additional brands include Couture by Sutton, ShawMark, Philadelphia Commercial Carpets, Queen Commercial, Shaw Contract Group, Patcraft & Designweave, Shaw Hospitality, Design Origins and Commercial Hard Surfaces.
