Lyptus Hardwood Flooring
Weyerhaeuser Lyptus high-grade hardwood flooring is durable and easy to install. It is a sustainable, renewable, high-yield hardwood that features exceptional workability, machining properties, density, finish tolerance and overall strength. Lyptus is an eco-friendly hardwood hybrid, grown in the heart of what once was Brazil's devastated forest lands. It is derived from the cross breeding of the Eucalyptus Grandis and the Eucalyptus Urophylla. This hybrid, interspersed with reintroduced indigenous trees, was created to preserve the region's already depleted native ecosystem. Thriving on carefully managed plantations in Brazil, this eucalyptus hybrid is harvested after about 15 years as compared to 70-80 years required by other premium hardwoods to mature. A plantation can produce four crops of Lyptus in the time it takes a mahogany tree just to mature. The volume of wood produced on the Lyptus plantations is 30 times greater than that of other Brazilian forests. The tree is able to quickly reproduce saplings from the very stump after it's first harvesting without the need for replanting.
More specifically, on the product level, end- matched tongue and groove flooring is available in random lengths in both 2" and 3" widths and ¾" thickness. Its hardness rating is greater than white oak, mahogany, jojoba, red oak, hard maple or beech. With attributes such as exceptional workability, density, finish tolerance, and overall strength along with its comparable hardness to that of the Brazilian Cherry, customers can be confident that their decision in such a quality product like Lyptus is coming from a consistent and environmentally sound source of supply. With the grain pattern like that of Mahogany and a natural color similar to the American Cherry, rest assured that it's beauty is nothing short of marvelous. Lyptus standard grade contains all colors in the wood’s natural continuum, from light pink to red, with no stains. No pieces with sharp color contrasts between the sapwood and heartwood are allowed. Striped grade may contain stains on the face, and is selected for contrasting colors that create a dramatic striped effect.
