Capella Floors Hardwood Flooring
Capella Wood Floors insists upon numerous conservation efforts, which include innovative hardwood forestry practices, prudent wildlife management, and natural regeneration of the land. The company not only talks the talk, but walks the walk as well. Capella's logs come from one of the industry's largest timber companies whose forestry management department consists of graduate foresters and wildlife biologists to manage the forests. This environmental commitment and philosophy won't be found at many hardwood floor companies. Since 1995, the amount of engineered wood in residential use has increased significantly. Some of the reasons for this change include: a stable 5-ply construction that reduces twisting and cupping, the handling of seasonal changes with less stress and movement and they acclimate faster on the job, thereby reducing construction time. On the contrary, solid floors have poor qualities such as crookedness, insufficient strength, limited availability and numerous defects.

Capella hardwood floors are available in a 3/4" thickness, the same as solid hardwood floors. That's 50% thicker than most other engineered floors. Capella also makes a 3/8" engineered floor with a 1/8" wear layer on Oak, and a 1/12" wear layer on all other floors, still thicker than the wear layer on most U.S. and imported brands. All 3/8" Oak products offer a 1/8" wear layer. All 3/8" Cherry, Maple, and Pecan floors offer a 1/12" wear layer for maximum stability. The manufacturing process includes the top layer and layers beneath it being stacked cross-grain to guard against expansion and contraction. The stacked layers are now bonded together with the unique Verti-Bond process that glues together each ply vertically, end-to-end, and horizontally, providing patented 3-way strength.
